How to Build an Award-Winning Culture of Gratitude, Care and Wellbeing

In my mahi as People & Culture Director of a Wellington-based digital agency called PaperKite, the question I’m consumed with is, ‘how do we keep our people, attract ‘keepers’ and create ambassadors from our alumni?’ We do this by being deliberate about designing experiences, rituals and initiatives that support our people. We’ve recently won three Awards based on the initiatives that I’m going to talk about.

And we’ve just had the biggest revenue year in PaperKite’s 14 year history which validates PaperKite’s core belief that ‘what’s better for people, is better for business’. So I’m talking about what we’ve implemented, the meaningful impacts of the changes and to issue a challenge to experiment with at least one thing.

3 Key Learnings

1. How to create moments that matter - without needing big budgets.
2. Interviewing, Hiring and Onboarding rituals to cultivate your culture.
3. How to turn Performance Reviews into a celebration of performance.
